Every technique has its benefits and limitations, and GBG specialises in using different combinations of geophysical techniques to give more thorough investigations of the subsurface. By using multiple techniques, the limitations of one technique can be overcome by another. For example, soil that limits the transmission of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) waves can be ideal for the propagation of seismic waves, therefore using Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) as an additional technique to a mine-shaft location investigation.
Some investigations are best done with one technique that has a high speed of collection but limited results. The results of that technique can then be used to more effectively target another slower technique to give more detailed information at a few key locations. This second dataset calibrates the first and provides a more cost-effective solution.
