Methods: Cover-Meter

Applications

  • Depth of cover and the diameter of reinforcement bars close the surface of the concrete structure and bar locations.

Method

Cover-meter is a good complementary technique to Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning as it can provide an estimate of bar diameter and more accurate depths of cover. Cover-meter results are usually used in conjunction with GPR to supply steel detail on structures.

Data Analysis & Presentation

Depth of cover and bar diameter measurements are usually provided on CAD drawings along with the results from a GPR survey, as well as any other techniques that are used on site.

Example of presentation of NDT results: GPR, Schmidt Hammer, Impact Echo, Cover meter, core results.
